    PERFORM

    Perform Cover

    Project Overview

PERFORM is a conceptual sports performance magazine built around modern athletic culture. The project explores the connection between training, recovery, competition, mindset, and performance through bold editorial design and strong visual storytelling.

The goal was to create a publication that feels energetic, premium, and current across both print and digital platforms.

    The Challenge

Most fitness and sports magazines rely on crowded layouts, repetitive typography, and predictable visual systems. PERFORM was designed to feel cleaner, sharper, and more editorial while still staying accessible and easy to navigate.

The project also needed to work beyond a single magazine cover. The visual system had to extend naturally into social media, mobile layouts, digital previews, and promotional content without losing consistency.

    Creative Direction

The visual direction combines inspiration from sports branding, fashion editorials, and performance campaigns. Bold typography, high-contrast photography, and strong pacing were used throughout the project to create movement and intensity.

Neon lime accents paired with black-and-white layouts became a key part of the identity, helping the brand feel modern and recognizable without becoming overly complicated.

The audience was aimed toward athletes, fitness-focused readers, and younger audiences who engage heavily with digital sports media and contemporary sports culture.

    Typography System

Typography became one of the strongest parts of the identity system. Bold condensed display type was paired with clean sans-serif body copy to create clear hierarchy and strong visual impact.

Large headlines help establish energy immediately, while the supporting typography keeps long-form content readable and organized across print and digital layouts.

The system was designed to scale consistently across magazine covers, editorial spreads, social graphics, infographics, and mobile applications.

    Grid & Layout Strategy

The layout system balances structure with motion. A modular grid created consistency across the publication while still allowing flexibility for more dynamic compositions.

Large photography anchors each spread while spacing, alignment, and typography guide the reader through the page. The layouts were designed to feel immersive and visually driven without becoming chaotic or difficult to read.

Consistent margins, pacing, and typographic rhythm help unify the publication across multiple article formats and platforms.

    Cover Design

The cover system was designed to feel immediate, bold, and recognizable. Each issue uses dramatic athlete photography, oversized typography, and strong contrast to create a high-impact visual identity.

Hierarchy was created through scale, positioning, and spacing rather than clutter. Supporting headlines provide depth without competing with the main feature story.

The result feels influenced by both sports culture and contemporary editorial design rather than traditional fitness publications.

    Editorial System

The editorial system was built to support a wide range of content including feature stories, interviews, statistics, infographics, and performance guides.

Recurring design elements such as grid structures, typography, spacing, and color accents help create consistency throughout the publication while still allowing individual spreads to feel distinct.

Photography, pull quotes, charts, and layered typography work together to keep the pages visually engaging and easy to follow.

    Digital Extensions

PERFORM was designed as more than a print magazine. The project expanded into social campaigns, mobile layouts, digital issue previews, and responsive concepts for online viewing.

These extensions helped create a more complete brand experience while showing how the visual system could adapt across different formats and screen sizes.

    Final Outcome

PERFORM evolved into a complete editorial brand system that combines sports culture, performance aesthetics, and modern magazine design into a cohesive multi-platform experience.

    The project highlights strengths in:

    • Editorial design
    • Art direction
    • Typography
    • Layout systems
    • Brand identity
    • Infographic design
    • UI/UX concepts
    • Social media design
    • Visual storytelling

Rather than stopping at a single magazine cover, the project expanded into a fully developed publication ecosystem with applications across print, digital, and social media.
